Nehemiah Church COGIC is actively engaged in the Durham community.  Nehemiah Church COGIC is one of the founding members of Durham CAN (Congregations, Associations and Neighborhoods), which is a grassroots broad based community organizing effort that is affiliated with the IAF (Industrial Areas Foundation).  Through Durham CAN Nehemiah has helped address issues around education, living wages, affordable housing, and voter registration to name a few.  Nehemiah Church COGIC has a strong track record of recognizing and addressing needs of the community with over ten years offering Nehemiah’s Kitchen and an additional almost three years offering Nehemiah Day Center which provided technology resources, partnered with local agencies to provide additional resources to the community.  This was continued as Nehemiah Church COGIC has been on the front line of addressing food insecurities throughout the pandemic providing hot meals, bag lunches, Farmers 2 Families produce boxes and weekly giving out bags of groceries through The Give Back.
